Real Estate Exam by State

Privacy: one record, every field

Studying here is anonymous: you never sign up, nothing is stored in your browser, and no analytics script runs. The single exception is following an app link, which writes one log entry; its contents are spelled out first, because it is the only thing we keep.

The one thing we log

App links are routed through go.real-estate-exam-by-state.com, a redirect we run ourselves, and from there to Apple’s App Store, Google Play or this site’s own practice test. Each use writes one entry with these fields:

  1. From and to: the page address, the exam and button involved, the destination and a timestamp.
  2. Your software: operating system and the complete user-agent your browser sends.
  3. Your network: IP address; the autonomous system number and name of the network operator; a rough location derived from the IP (country, region, city, time zone); and the data center of our host that served the redirect.
  4. The referral: the page that linked to us, and query parameters on the link, utm_source for example.

Names, email addresses and logins are never part of it, and the redirect leaves no cookie behind. The entries tell us which pages send readers to the apps and help separate people from bots. Nobody buys them, and no advertiser receives them.

When the redirect hands you over to Apple or Google, the link names real-estate-exam-by-state.com as its campaign, which lets the store attribute an install to this site. Everyone gets the same name: it identifies the site, not the visitor.

What stays on your device

  • Every page is a prebuilt file. The typefaces are hosted on this domain as well, and nothing from an ad network or an analytics company is loaded.
  • Answers are checked by a script inside the page. What you chose and how many you got right never leave your device, and they vanish once the tab is closed.
  • The hosting provider sees what any web host sees (your IP address, the identification string your browser sends, the URL) in order to serve the file and fend off attacks.

How long entries stay, and opting out

We haven’t fixed a deletion schedule for these entries, and there is no mailbox here to send a request to. If you’d rather not be logged, open the App Store or Google Play directly and look the app up by name.
