Pass rates
DBPR’s exam performance summary for the first two months of 2025 is the latest broker figure we could read: 46% of first-time takers in January and February 2025. Repeat takers passed far less often, 29% of repeat takers in January 2025 and 30% in February 2025, and they made up over half of takers in those months.
Two months is a small sample, so read it as a range, not a forecast. The pattern is still useful: a second attempt is not an easier one, so plan to pass the first time.
Format and scoring
100 multiple-choice questions, one point each, in 3.5 hours (210 minutes). Candidate booklets also allow unscored pilot items with extra time; they are not marked. The 75 of 100 needed to pass is split by subject in rule 61J2-2.029: 45 law · 40 principles and practices · 15 math. What counts is the total, not a minimum per subject.
Booking and test day
Booking
You cannot book first: DBPR has to approve the application, and Pearson VUE then sends an authorization letter. Book online or by phone after DBPR approves the application; no walk-ins; change or cancel free up to 2 calendar days before. Missing the exam or changing it late costs the full fee.
What you may bring
Your calculator must be silent, hand-held and non-printing, with no alphabetic keypad; financial calculators are allowed. Two forms of ID with signatures, one of them a government photo ID, and the name on them has to match the application. A word-for-word paper translation dictionary is allowed after staff inspect it; notes and books are not, since the exam is closed book.
Review and challenge after a fail
A failed candidate may request a review of the wrong answers within 21 days of the exam (a review fee applies); challenges are filed only during that review. The review is held at a test center, usually with half the exam time, and you see only the questions you missed. No notes are allowed; objections are typed during the session. DBPR’s answer to a challenge is "credit" or "no credit" for each question, on average about three weeks later (candidate booklet, p. 15).
Retakes
Retake: wait 24 hours to book again; a new $36.75 fee each time. No attempt limit is stated. Your Course II certificate has to be valid at every attempt, and it is good for 2 years. What repeated attempts add up to: cost.
